How are you doing with your new year resolutions / goals / revolutions / plans?
Have you lost the motivation the new year gave you?

What has gone well?!

  • What have you enjoyed?
  • What can you continue realistically and enjoyably?

And the things that haven’t gone so well? …..

1) Please remember we’re surviving a pandemic so give yourself some slack!
Do you need to re think your plans in the light of extra demands on your time (home schooling, taking care of someone shielding or sick ,or just more people at home more)?

Can you allow yourself time for self care or even to get out the house during day light hours?

Do you need to totally overhaul your plans and just delay these for another time?

2) Were your goals SMART?
SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound

It’s really important that if we set goals they are SMART otherwise we’re setting ourselves up for failure!

This will help you make goals that you can achieve, that in turn will help you feel more confident and help you achieve more!

Reflect on what goals you made in the new year that weren’t realistic and whether you can adapt them or need to ditch them.

3) Were your goals linked with your priorities?  Or were they actually ignoring or even detrimental to them?
You might be focusing all your effort into the wrong things!

Or you might be feeling like you ‘should’ be doing one thing but ‘want’ or ‘need’ to do something else!

Someone told me last week they were forgoing new year’s resolutions and just using one word for their year.  Then reflecting back everything they did to see if it fit with their word.

So for example, if your word is peace, is taking on that extra piece of work giving you peace or stress?  Is making that extra bit of money fitting with your priority of ‘peace’ or another goal that you think you ‘should’ follow?

Keep reflecting my lovely ones!
